In 2021, Oxfam contracted Abu Hwaij to undertake multi-country research for the Naseej project. The assignment examined gender-based violence in conflict contexts, including attention to groups underrepresented in research. Work across Palestine, Iraq and Yemen involved survey questionnaires, key-informant interviews and expert consultations. Partnerships with Baghdad Women Association and the University of Aden supported data collection, analysis and the adaptation of research to local contexts.
